Summer's here!!!!!

Things here have certainly warmed up rather nicely over the past couple of weeks. We've consistently had temps in the 90's and the humidity is . . . well, humid! So far we've been able to get a good enough breeze in our apartment that we haven't installed an AC. We have windows directly across from each other at opposite ends of the apartment, and that helps keep air circulating rather steadily.

We've been busy continuing our language study and visiting with our friends so we can practice our steadily increasing skills. This week though we get a little break from class - yahoo!!! That means we are going to have the opportunity to do some different things with our friends. Tonight Mark is playing soccer. Tomorrow Melissa is meeting a friend to take some lessons in bead-jewelry making. Then we are both meeting at our artist friends' studio so Mark can model for one of their students. How about that?! She's getting ready for a drawing exam in the fall, and she told us she needs a "live" model instead of pictures. He has to sit still for an hour without talking (according to the student). It should be a hoot! Later in the week, we're hoping to meet our neighbors at their summer home for a visit, some friends from another city will be coming for a visit, another friend's mom and aunt will be coming from the States to help care for their new baby, and then to end the weekend, we hope to make another trip with some friends to a local favorite vacation spot. Whew!!! What a week it could turn out to be!!

Oh yeah . . . how much are watermelons selling for at home these days? Here they're selling for the equivalent of 40 cents a piece . . . can you believe that??? The most expensive we've seen is about 80 cents a piece. Unbelievable!!!

We hope you're getting some time to enjoy the arrival of summer, too! We'd love to hear about your adventures!!
